朝吉は子分だった貞の嫁のところに居候の身。芝居一座が小屋主から因縁をつけられて興行できなくなっているところの仲裁を頼まれる。無事に芝居は行われめでたしめでたしといったところで一座と小屋主の間に入っていた興行ブローカーが一座のギャラを持ち逃げしてしまい朝吉は窮地に立たされる。一座の借金の肩代わりをした朝吉は因島の大親分を頼って因島を訪れるが・・・
Asakichi is staying with Sada’s wife, who used to be his henchman. He is asked to mediate a dispute between a theatrical troupe and the owner of a hut, which is preventing the troupe from putting on a show. The play goes off without a hitch and all is well, but an entertainment broker who had come between the troupe and the owner absconds with the troupe’s money, leaving Asakichi in a difficult situation. Asakichi, who has taken on the troupe’s debts, visits Innoshima and relies on the grand master of Innoshima, but…
