本作は、日本でも2014年に上演された『夜中に犬に起こった奇妙な事件』でオリヴィエ賞・トニー賞を受賞した英国を代表する作家、サイモン・スティーヴンスによる戯曲で、2014年にキャリー・クラックネルの演出により、イギリス・ロイヤルコート劇場で世界初演された作品です。世界的な人気の絶頂にあるロックスターの世界ツアー最後の一週間、ツアーが終わりに近づくにつれ、精神が不安定になっていく・・・。富や名声によって変えられ、観衆に“スター”として消費されていく一人のロックスターの物語です。
演出は、劇団「ゴジゲン」主宰で作・演出・出演をこなし、近年は公開中の映画『くれなずめ』やドラマ『バイプレイヤーズ』シリーズを手掛け、ジャンルや枠に捉われない表現を続ける松居大悟が手掛けます。PARCO劇場での上演はもとより、松居大悟がパルコ・プロデュース作品を演出するのも本作が初となります。
出演者には、主演のカリスマ的ロックスターを演じる上田竜也をはじめ、個性豊かな実力派豪華キャストが揃いました。
A world-famous rock star spirals into emotional turmoil on the last week of his world tour.
Wealth and fame changed him into a star, only to be consumed by the people around him.
It’s directed by Daigo Matsui, who writes, acts, and directs at theater company 5-jigen, and has produced the film Kurenazume and the TV series Byplayers in recent years. He is well-versed and not afraid of crossing genres. This is his first time directing a work for PARCO.
The drama features Tatsuya Ueda, who plays the leading role of a charismatic rock star, and other acclaimed actors.
【あらすじ】
世界的な人気の絶頂にあるロックスター・ポール（Paul）は
ワールドツアー最後の一週間を迎えていた。
彼は名声の頂点にいる。誰もが彼の名を知っている。
望むものはなんでも手に入れられる・・・。
ツアーはモスクワからパリ、ベルリン、
そして最終地のロンドンへと続いていく。
生きること、死ぬこと、覚えること、忘れられること。
混沌といえるほどの熱狂と、
孤独の果てにポールが見たものとは———。
【Synopsis】
Rock star Paul, at the height of his popularity, is on the last week of his world tour.
He’s at the top of the fame. Everyone knows his name. There’s nothing he cannot get.
The tour starts from Moscow, Paris, Berlin, and then ends in the final destination, London. He must reevaluate the way he lives. Through death, past memories, and feelings of being left alone, he finds himself in indescribable loneliness, amidst chaotic crowds.
