There are two states of anxiety for an artist, imposter syndrome and realizing you might be the smartest in the room. The first is every day and the second is occasional and far more terrifying
These guys really are new kids on the block huh! Fucking 1990 dumbass!
Must be a pretty nerve wreaking experience.
I believe when he says he doesn't know what the essence of cinema is, it's meant as on an intellectual level. But watching his movies you can see he most certainly FELT the essence of cinema with his whole being. His movies are a projection of his thoughts and feelings on screen, the same way a fine artist projects what they're seeing on to canvas.
I watched Ran a couple years ago and it's one of those movies I recommend to people but I just know they'll never watch…
It's possibly one of the most beautiful films every created, every shot is like a painting. Not to mention the story, it's bone-chilling, cuts so deep. His movies stay in my head for days after watching…
Nice hair Steve!
Scorsese lamenting being 80 brought me here 😞
old Japanese very tall.
You could see in their faces who knew who he was and who didn't, Tom almost broke his palms clapping.
Seeing how touched he was..wow. ❤

Some of the ladies obviously didn't know know who Kurosawa was but Tom Cruise is clearly a fan.
And now years later, as Scorsese was sitting that night 4:36, he now understands what Kurosawa meant
I watched this and teared up. It's rare to see humility at such an elite level.
What in the “asymmetrical Bob/ John and Kate, plus 8 haircut hell” is going on with Spielbergs haircut?
Que dijo de chuwebaca?😲
4:36 MARTY’S FAMILY✨
Who’s the cunt laughing at the start of his speech?
Magnificent speech.
Kurosawa is not a name, Its a BRAND🔥🔥🔥🔥
3:16 fucking hilarious
黒澤明監督は背も高く、ガニ股でもないので、世界の舞台に出ても遜色なくスマートですね。日本の誇りです。

I never know Akira Kurosawa, until theres one time in the late evening there is an old Japanese samurai movie in black and white on the TV. I was mesmerized by the story, characters and the message director Akira wanted to deliver. That movie is Seven Samurai, and that was like for me over 23 years ago, I am glad to seen this video, Akira Kurosawa received award from the two famous movie director of all times, which is truly remarkable. Thank you for your video. Greetings from Asia 😎
Akira Kurosawa meritava 10 oscar.
Lol you know the oscars are bullshit when the greatest movie director of all time and the greatest movie music composer (morricone) never get an award until the end of their careers

Did someone just laugh 💀?
Sensei kurosawa 😔🙏❤
Kurosawa. The best.
90% of the Audience hadnt seen a single Kurosawa film and 100% today dont even know who the fk he is
Mr Kurosawa answer shows the huge gap between eastern and western approach to life.
Rashomon shocked the world at Venice, but Japan was skeptical about showing Japan in such squalor to westerners.
Wasn’t this guy already blind
i have been disecting all of Kurosawa's movies lately and see that every shot in the movie is picturesque. The godfather of Cinema he truly was . The movie Seven Samurai took my breath away.
世界の「ゴジラ」の本多猪四郎監督と世界の「東京物語」の笠智衆が世界の黒澤監督に祝意を送るなんて、日本ではその場さえ与えられない。おめでとう、クロサワ!
Shameful only a honor award he deserves more
One Oscar that was truly deserved. If it was up to me the Best Director award would be renamed the Akira.
