日本のアンダーグラウンドカルチャーの代表的な存在である寺山修司。
音楽劇『海王星』は、その寺山が「天井棧敷」を結成する前 の１９６３年、２７歳の時に書き上げ、現在まで未上演のままとなっていた戯曲である。
演出を日本の演劇界で注目の眞鍋卓嗣 、音楽・音楽監督を寺山から大きく影響を受けたドレスコーズ ・志磨遼平が務め、山田裕貴、松雪泰子、ユースケ・サンタマリアなど日本を代表する総勢２１名の俳優が生演奏と共に、新たな寺山ワールドを具現化した。
PARCO劇場にて行われた公演をダイジェスト版でご紹介いたします。
Shuji Terayama is associated with Japan’s underground culture. He finished writing this music drama The Neptune in 1963 when he was 27, before he formed the theater group Tenjo Sajiki, but it has never been performed until now.
Featuring renowned theater director Takashi Manabe, and music director Ryohei Shima, vocalist of the dresscodes,was greatly influenced by Terayama. This production stars 21 top-tier actors in Japan, including Yuki Yamada, Yasuko Matsuyuki, and Yusuke Santamaria. Accompanied with live music, The Neptune is the embodiment of the new worlds created by Terayama.
This is the digest of a show performed in PARCO Theater.
■あらすじ
舞台は、北の海岸の戦艦の船底につくられた「北海岸ホテル」。
嵐で船出を先延ばしにされた客人達が集まり、かりそめのパーティーをしている。
主人公・猛夫 は一人落ち込んでいる。父、彌平の乗る船が嵐で難破し死んでしまったのだ。悲しむ猛夫のもとに父と再婚し、義母となるはずだった魔子が現れる。
これが運命だったかのように心を惹かれ合う猛夫と魔子、しかし、死んだはずの彌平が、奇跡的に生きていたことにより、二人の恋は悲恋へと舵を切る。
恋仇となった仲の良い親子、さらに猛夫を慕う那美と小悪魔的な少女そばかすの存在が、3人の恋慕を悲劇的に加速させる。
そして、魔子の心は揺れるまま、彌平との結婚式を迎える。
物語は、この5人を軸に、ブルースを歌う老婆や、昆虫採集の少女たちなど寺山修司的な登場人物が現れ、様々な心情を唄い踊り、哀しい祝祭劇を彩っていく。
■STORY
The story is set in the North Coast Hotel, located at the bottom of a battleship on the northern coast. A group of people, whose departure has been postponed by the storm, are having a party to kill time.
Takeo is depressed. His father Yahei was killed at sea when his ship was wrecked in a storm. While drowning his sorrows, he encounters Mako who was supposed to be married to Yahei and be his stepmother. As if it was meant to be, sparks between them fly. But when the “deceased” Yahei returns, their romance is steered off course.
The once-happy father and son get to a crossroads in their relationship, Nami who is fond of Takeo, and a devilish girl Sobakasu drive the triangle relationship to disaster. While finding herself caught between two men, Mako and Yahei’s wedding day comes.
The five weave together the story while Terayama’s unique characters such as a blues-singing old lady and insect-collecting girls appear. They express various emotions through singing and dancing, adding shades to this tragedy.
