I first came to Chinain 1978, I was barely four years old. The next time was in 1986. It was a very different country back then. The economy hadn’t opened up yet and life was much simpler. I remember seeing literally thousands of bikes on the road because people were not allowed to buy cars yet so everyone commuted by bicycle. No matter how far, how hot or how cold. It was the only form of personal transportation. There were so many bikes on the road that it was scary to try and cross the street. This brand Feng Huang(Phoenix in English)was the Mercedes of bikes in China. Made in Shanghai, it was a sturdy and trustworthy bike. This one is a reproduction but if you can find an original one they have become quite collectible. #bikesofchina
